The end of maslenitsa coincides with the beginning of Great Lent and to help us redirect our attention to the main theme of Lent - repentence - the Church has instituted the custom of asking forgiveness of one another on the eve of Clean Monday.  Immediately following the second Divine Liturgy on Sunday, forgiveness vespers will be served.
